After installing all of the april updates, had to do a system restore.  Found out from internet research that this patch causes this issue.  Reinstalled all the updates excluding the above mentioned update KB244708, rebooted and then installed KB244708.  No further issues. Microsoft issued revisions: http://fabtechguy.com/microsoft-issues-april-2011
